Tropical Storm Francine expected to impact parts of north Mississippi by Thursday
HOLLY SPRINGS, MS. (TVMO) - The National Hurricane Center has predicted that Tropical Storm Francine is expected to impact parts of North Mississippi by Friday morning.
Currently, Francine is still gathering pace in the Gulf of Mexico and is predicted to make landfall on the Louisiana coastline at around 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning. When Francine makes landfall, it is expected to be a hurricane, and the large parts of the Gulf Coast from Texas to Alabama are now under storm surge warnings.
After making landfall Francine is expected to turn north and head inland, and should subside to a tropical storm. Heavy rain and high winds are forecast to impact as far north as Memphis by Thursday afternoon.
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency have warned that there is an elevated risk of heavy rain and high winds in the southwest area of the State, while the northeast area is currently listed as a limited impact.
